Taejae Future Consensus Institute is a non-profit public policy institute founded in 2015 through private funding by Chang-Gul Cho, the honorary chairman of Hanssem.
Our mission is to formulate and promote innovative policy solutions for contributing to shared prosperity and building a thriving and sustainable future for humanity.
To that end, we work with leading policy experts and institutions from around the world and develop concrete and actionable policy alternatives on a range of issues that require immediate and concerted efforts from the international community to resolve.
We share our ideas with policymakers as well as ordinary citizens in and outside Korea through organization of seminars and forums, publication of policy reports, and active engagement with news outlets and social network platforms.
We produce evidence-based and non-partisan work independent of any political party, ideology, and/or special interest.
The name “Taejae” encapsulates our mission to build a safe and prosperous world for all by bringing together the most innovative and influential ideas of our time.

Research Area
Improving major power relations
A prolonged confrontation among major powers could have disastrous consequences for all. We need to find ways to help ease the tensions and expand the common ground between them.
Assessing China’s transformation
Urbanization has been an important driving force behind China’s rise. We examine the impact that sustainable urbanization can have on China and the opportunities it provides for cooperation with the regional states.
Strengthening cooperation in Northeast Asia
The Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia more broadly have long been home to fierce major power competition. We develop concrete steps to promote long-term cooperation, stability and prosperity in the region.
Ensuring Korea’s future competitiveness
We identify a set of core industries that can spearhead Korea’s long-term economic development and craft strategies to enhance competitiveness.
Securing vital national capabilities
Korea must continue to augment its national capacity to stay at the forefront of change and innovation on the world stage. We offer new ideas to take Korea to the next level of social and economic progress with a focus on such core areas as higher education, think tanks, businesses, media, government, political parties, and military.
